Can this person be sued for assault?

Not long ago, my mom was a victim of second-degree assault. Here's more detail about it>> http://www.wusa9.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid...

My question is, can she sue him for second-degree assault and possibly endangerment? She wasn't hurt, but could she sue and get money or something?

THat is gross. She could sue, and she likely would win, but the question is what are her damages. She is entitled to be made whole, and as gross as that incident was, her damages seem to be very limited. Also, people that go around doing this are not independently wealthy and likely couldn't pay any judgment rendered against them.
