How do I reset Manual White Balance - Cannon 400D?
Hello
I've been playing with manual and think messed my camera settings. I've reset custom and manual settings but the WB white balance is still set way over to the right, shouldn't it be in the middle?... All the pics I've taken today outdoors have ended up white out. Hope I've explained ok. Thanks
I've checked the manual but can't understand it! oh dear
How to I re set my white balance to the middle please!
Can I upload a photo\data, maybe best way then can see what I've done wrong?

Ummm.... you are VERY confused on some things. White balance is not some kind of "middle" setting. What are you referring to, the histogram? The histogram is a graphic display of exposure, it has NOTHING to do with white balance. White balance is a means to compensate for various light, (color), temperatures. You can have a histogram display that is right or wrong regardless of if the white balance is right or wrong. Just put your white balance setting back to Auto, which will be shown as AWB (for Auto White Balance). If your histogram is way over to the right, then you have overexposure in your photos. Many things can cause that, such as too slow a shutter speed or too large an aperture opening or too high an ISO for conditions. But nothing about exposure has anything to do with white balance.
Putting the camera back in full Auto (green box) mode, or P (program mode) and the white balance to AWB will set everything back to "normal".
I suggest you get in some good photography classes or local clubs and buy books on basic photographic principles.

If they are coming out white I think they are overexposed. And you are right, it should be in the middle. Manual white balance should say something like "7400k." That has to do with the color.
There is no "resetting" manual. It is where you set it. It's like resetting my bike chain. How in the world would you do that? There are auto and semi auto modes that let you play with some settings and the camera does the others. I highly sugest you get a book on photography. It will help you immensely.
Look up youtube tutorials or get a book from the city library.

Photos taken today ended up "white out". I think they were overexposed instead.
The scale that you see if for exposure. I don't recall that camera having a custom white balance setting (I could be wrong). Put it back in the middle and please try again.

With your camera, you'd move it by "left" or "right" button since there is no wheel.

No one in particular really... If there are any tyrants or dictators out there who deserve it, then go ahead... Or mayB the ocean would be a beta choice, because while we're thinkin' about who we should launch the shark at, the shark is in the cannon tryin to get out and kill whoever shoved him/her into the cannon in the first place. LOL... XD =D ^^

Look in the user manual that came with the camera.
That will tell you everything you want to know.
