Why would my blood pressure go UP when on blood pressure lowering medication?
The Doctor prescribed blood pressure medication because just in the last year its gone from being perfect (120/78 or better all my life, including pregnancies) to dangerously high (198/98). Then after a week on medication I got blurred vision so went back to the doctor to find its up even higher (208/105). Does anybody know why?
If it matters I am a 48 year old female.
Had full blood workout in March. Liver/kidney/thyroid function test all came back within normal range. Cholesterol at 4.4, Triglycerides 0.7, fasting blood glucose fine. Iron levels good. My doctor said he wished he had my numbers.

It could be 'white coat syndrome' - it's gone up because you were at the doctors. Ask for a 24 hour BP to see how it changes during a normal day.
