    Either it is faulty or the wrong type. IT should be straight through. If you hold

    it up by the ends side by side, so the orientation is the same (the clip side down, so you can see the back where is easier to see the colors) Now the colors the wire is determined by the type of cable, but the colors are usually alternating solid and solid/white.

    So one of mine is green/white, green, orange/white,blue,blue/white,orange,brown/white,brown.

    A crossover cable, they don't match because wires on one side go to different pins on the other.

    Try another port, and another cable.

    can we (the entire yahoo answering community out there) get a little more specific information please? Are you using the dsl to connect into the router from the wall, or are you trying to connect your router to the computer with it? What operating system are you using? If you can get wi-fi with the router, are you using it for the laptop? I'm assuming that you also have a desktop computer, and since your question appears here, internet access...

    Without more information, it will be almost impossible to answer this in a way that might be of use, but here is something you can try: open the start menu of windows, click on accessories, double click on command prompt, and type (without the quotation marks);

    "ipconfig /release" and press enter. This will release all possible incorrect bindings for any active adapters the operating system recognizes...

    THEN, type "ipconfig /renew" and press enter.(again, w/o the quote marks). This will renew the adapter bindings and IP addresses of every adapter the operating system can find, and may take a minute or two as it tries to communicate with the devices...

    FINALLY, You can type "ipconfig /all" and press enter to see a listing of all the enabled devices and their ip addresses and configurations. Depending upon your operating system, you may or may not have to restart the system to use certain devices, but this procedure might be of help in most cases. GOOD LUCK!! (and repost here if this doesn't help you any)

    If the light is not going on, it is probably a good idea to try out another cable
