Latin-Americans or Spanish Speakers: What is Lampaya?
I'm learning Spanish and have an interest in South American foods. A friend gave me a Bolivian cook book - La Comida Popular Boliviana.
A recipe is for 'Desayuno de lampaya' (breakfast of lampaya) and even the Bolivian people I know didn't know what it was. I know it is an ingredient (not a place) and the only thing I can find is that it is a plant... Not all that helpful.
If anyone could tell me what it is and what it tastes like, it would be greatly appreciated.
The recipe has Lampaya as an ingredient. Hence why I said that I knew it was an ingredient, not a place.

It's obviously a medicinal herb, what it tastes of I cannot discover. Why you'd want it in a breakfast I can't imagine. If it;'s so popular why would there be so little information? I wonder if the author is still alive born 1924, perhaps you could write to him through the publishers.

Yes, as Jayson said, Lampaya is a place
I think is a Bolivian city
So that must be a typical food from this city
