George Michael put away, why not helped?

Little Jamie Bulgers killers were given every assistance, but then again they were right up the the liberal reformers street.

Update:

Don't get me wrong, as I certainly don't condone what he did, but as Cornelius points out "he's always before the courts" and that tells me he needs help.

I would also point out there are more drugs in prison than there are out, so putting him away is an act of futility.

Update 2:

UK sense, couldn't agree more.

I agree with the point you raise here regarding his sentence not including an element of rehabilitation. The fact remains George Michael is a multi millionaire and has without doubt flouted the law on three separate occasions prior to his incarceration. The very fact he has a hugely successful career and wealth many of us will unlikely ever know, means he’s had more than ample opportunity to address his addiction and get the help he so obviously needs. Where the justice systems failed is right at the time of his first offence, surely repeat offending could have been avoided had a sentence been imposed where by rehabilitation played a key role and focused more upon education, he could almost certainly afford to finance the very best help available. Now we have a situation whereby the tax payer is responsible for funding the incarceration of a multimillionaire minor offender because the judicial system failed to identify and address the root cause right at the very beginning.

8 weeks ( probably 4 ) is hardly a long sentence. He keeps ending up in front of the courts so they put him down. At least Jamie Bulgers killers got jail time but I would agree not enough. You can kill someone while drunk or on drugs at the wheel of your car & walk away free or at best get less than 2 years.

Source(s): The UK justice system is far to weak.

Because he has several chances and not learnt his lesson. He seems to think he is above the law, and that driving under the influence of drugs is acceptable.

It's only a pure luck that he has not mowed down some innocent pedestrian.

Lock him up and throw away the key, hopefully this way he will learn that it's not big and it's not clever to get out your tree and get behind the wheel of a car.

    Edit

Simm, the prison's are also full of crime, would you argue that's a good reason not to put criminals inside? He can only help himself.
