Togo minister denounces fake team as mafia-owned
LOME, Togo (AP)—Togo’s sports minister says the fake national team that played Bahrain last week was made up of “unidentified players and their shadowy handlers” who belonged to a “mafia group.”
Christophe Tchao tells The Associated Press the team, which lost 3-0 at Bahrain’s National Stadium in Riffa on Sept. 7, did not have the necessary authorization from his ministry to represent the country in an international friendly.
Tchao says a mafia group “aided and abetted them to leave Togo without authorization.”
A former Togo football official says his signature was forged in the Aug. 17 letter to the Bahrain Football Association that set up the match.
Kodzo Samlan says he left the federation in May, “so I could not have written that letter.”

"Bana, a former member of the national team’s technical staff, was banned from football for two years by Togo’s government last month after taking a team to an international tournament in Egypt without permission."
I guess it could be real, it is a developing nation, and it seems like they have had corruption in the past so, it is possible. There is a lot of prove there that makes this possible, such as the forge signature, Bana taking the team to Egypt without permission. So, yeah I think its possible.

The African Federation and FIFA will make things more difficult for the Togo Football Federation. This is absolute nonsense.

I don't know how oblivious you are to exactly how underdeveloped Togo is but it is a very unstable governing body, i doubt their soccer group is anymore legit. This is almost certainly true, what would there to be gained by lying about that?
