I doubt our own spineless parliament will do it; no doubt they’ll dither with this issue as they seem to with many other issues regardless of public support. I think this is an excellent move by France. They are a bold country who is not afraid to make sensible moves to ensure a secular society. I have nothing against Muslims, or people of any other religion. And I respect the right of people to worship whomever and however they choose (as long as it doesn’t harm anyone else). BUT, any nation’s sovereign laws come first. And it SHOULD be illegal for a portion of any society to routinely walk around with their face covered. It is common sense. Well done France.

I don't live there, but it seems as though the muslims have a pretty strong influence there, and I don't see UK banning it. It hasn't been an issue here in the states, but with Obama as President, they wouldn't ban it here either.

Here in Washington, DC, we still have an old law on the books from the KKK days which makes it illegal to mask in public if it is likely to cause fear amongst the general public.
So, everytime I see some moslem, veiled women on the subway I call the authorities and report suspicious masked people lurking about a metro station.
There have been too many instances of a moslem man dressing up as a moslem woman to commit some horrible atrocity.

Red panda or Giant panda?
Face masks should be compulsory for fugly types. This would also prevent the threat from SARS and Swine Flu and Bird Flu and so on.
It is not up to politicians (especially those with blood on their hands, like 'ex'-trotskyite Jack Straw, the burkhaphobic MP) to tell the population how to dress.

i hope so
i saw one being worn with a belt around the middle of the burkha a few days ago
must be a new model one......of course it was black......
Source(s): no matter how much pandering goes on it is never enough for some is it? so better to stop it there will be complaints anyway - SydLv 61 decade ago
I've never dressed as a panda in my life, thanks, and if the UK banned face masks I wouldn't make a very convincing one. Haven't I read your stuff on the Private Eye message board before?

Never. No chance and anyway as we saw with the manslaughter of Ian Tomlinson your cops are wearing them and concealing ID's so there
is a clear roaring double standard straight away.
Britain could not cope with the ramifications.
(let me know if you need a dictionary link for that one btw)
