Top 10 Players not in the HOF.?

who are your top 10 players not in the HOF? (list eligable players, example: dont list a guy like griffey jr because he is not yet elligable).

heres my list

10. pete rose (its been long enough he should be in)

9. Minnie Monnoso (the latin equivalant of jackie robinson)

8. Tommy John (a leftt handed pitcher who has 288 wins)

7 Dale Murphy (great player on a horrible team, one of the best off the field guys as well)

6. Ron Santo

5. Don Mattingly (best first baseman of his era, his numbers were very simular to pucketts plus power, kofax gets in on a shortened career but guys like mattingly get shafted)

4.Bert Blyleven

3 Joe Jackson

2 Maury Wills

1. Gil Hodges

Honorable mentions: Goose Gossage, Kieth Hernandez, Allan Tramell, Dave Parker, Jim Katt, Lee Smith, Jack Morris, Harold Baines, roberto alomar, Vida Blue and Barry Larkin.

out of these mentions i think only Katt, Trammel, Blue, Smith and Goose belong in the HOF right now.

what do you think?

Update:

CHP Gets a thumbs down for pasting an internet article and not posting his own answer.

Update 2:

Didnt know goose got in, thanks.

as for eliglagibility, i was reffering to the 5 year rule and not banned players. but you guys are absolutley right about those players not being eligable.

Forget Pete "The Gambler" Rose. Lifetime ban. Bet on games in which the teams he was managing were playing.

Minnie Minoso. Doesn't have HoF stats.

    Tommy John. Agree.

Dale Murphy. Career .265 BA. Fair for a slick fielding SS, poor for the OF.

Ron Santo, Gil Hodges. A CRIME that neither is in the Hall.

    Don Mattingly. Agree.

Bert Blyleven. Decent stats, but nothing outstanding.

Joe Jackson. 1919 Black Sox. Lifetime ban.

Maury Wills. Decent enough stats for SS. 586 SB (104 in 1962), led league six times. Belongs.

Vida Blue. Fair stats, but not HoF.

Alan (not Allan) Trammell (ot Tramell). Good stats for SS. Belongs.

Jim Kaat (not Katt). 283 wins. But it took him 25 years. Average wins/season, 13. Not HoF.

Roberto Alomar. HoF stats for 2B.

Harold Baines. Decent career stats, but not for HoF OF.

Barry Larkin. Good enough stats for HoF SS.

Note: The next time you post a list of ball players, please spell their names correctly. KEITH Hernandez.

"eliglagibility", "reffering", "eligable". PLEASE use the Spell Checker.

    1. Roberto Alomar (he should get in next election)

    2. Bert Blyleven (he should get in as well)

    3. Gil Hodges (if not for his playing then for leading the 1969 Mets to a title)

    4. Barry Larkin

    5. Jack Morris

    6. Tommy John

    7. Lee Smith

    8. Dick Allen

    9. Ted Simmons

    10. Ron Santo

Of those who are eligible (in no order):

    1. Ron Santo

    2. Bert Blyleven

    3. Roberto Alomar

    4. Lee Smith

    5. Barry Larkin

    6. Jack Morris

    7. Don Mattingly

    8. Gil Hodges

For clarification and not trying to get into a long standing controversy -

    Pete Rose is not eligible.

Aside from putting them in the Top 10, I don't think I can really rate them, so here are ten guys I think need to be in:

    Ron Santo

    Edgar Martinez

    Barry Larkin

    Alan Trammel

    Lou Whitaker

    Tim Raines

    Dick Allen

    Minnie Minoso

    Bill Dahlen

    Bobby Matthews

As mentioned, Goose Gossage was inducted in 2008.

Source(s): Note- I obviously didn't include those not yet eligible. I also didn't count those who have been banned (Rose, Jackson and possibly Eddie Cicotte have the stats, but... they ARE banned...). Finally, I didn't count Bert Blyleven or Roberto Alomar because, well, there is NO CHANCE they won't get inducted next year (both were about 1% away from induction).

I'm with you on most of those, but Minoso, Mattingly, Wills, Keith Hernandez, Dave Parker, Morris, Bainse, and Vida blue are not HOFers in any shape or form.

Joe Jackson took money to throw WS games and doesn't belong in the HOF in any shape or form. Not in a million years.

I like your John, Santo and Hodges inclusions, though.

Also, Luis Tiant, Ted Simmons and Lou whitaker are my big pet peeve misses.

PS - the idiot down there who said "Jackson wasn't apart of the Black sox scandal" is another moron who irritates me. These people know absolutely nothing about the scandal other than jackson had a high average - but apparently they banned him for no reason at all, despite the fact 17 White Sox players did not get banned. I can't stand these people. Take some time and research it and learn about it before making stupid comments.

    Tim Raines

    Joe Jackson

    Barry Larkin

    Roberto Alomar

    Pete Rose

Gossage is IN the Hall. Try to keep up.

I'll agree on Blyleven, Santo, Murphy, and Minoso, because I've supported those men in the past and see no reason not to do so today (recognizing that Murf's candidacy is a dead dog, and Minoso has no realistic chance either),

    1. Pete Rose-No surprise here. The all-time hits leader is easily the most-talented (and charismatic) player who doesn’t have a plaque hanging in Major League Baseball’s Hall of Fame, in Cooperstown, New York. Rose was banned from baseball in 1989 for sports betting, a shame, considering racists like Ty Cobb and Cap Anson are in Cooperstown.

    2. Joe Jackson- Babe Ruth is said to have modeled his swing off “Shoeless Joe,” who owns the third best batting average all-time, .356. Alas, the Chicago White Sox great was also banned for gambling, in the wake of the infamous 1919 World Series that he helped fix.

    3. Dom Dimaggio-Ted Williams had a pamphlet in his museum about why DiMaggio should be in the Hall of Fame. The Boston Red Sox centerfielder was a seven-time All Star, renowned for his defense. The knock was that he had a relatively short career. Then again, so did Sandy Koufax.

    4. Dave Parker-This guy’s a Veteran’s Committee pick waiting to happen. If Jim Rice and Orlando Cepeda can get into the Hall, Parker should too. He had better career numbers than those players for hits, doubles, runs batted in, runs scored, and stolen bases. However, just like Cepeda delayed his Cooperstown bid by going to prison for drug trafficking, Parker likely hurt his chances with well-publicized cocaine abuse.

    5. Bert Blyleven-The poor man’s Nolan Ryan, Blyleven had 3701 strikeouts and 287 wins over the course of his career. Much like Ryan, though, Blyleven also lost a lot of games, 250 overall to Ryan’s 292. Still, he probably has the best credentials of any pitcher not in Cooperstown.

    6. Hal Chase-Yet another great player banned for gambling, Chase made a name for himself with outstanding defense at first base in the early part of the 20th century. However, he was so shameless in his association with gamblers, Ken Burns’ Baseball noted, that fans took to chanting, “What’s the odds, Hal?” when he played.

    7. Stan Hack- A solid Chicago Cubs third baseman from the 1930s and ’40s, this Sacramento native had 2193 lifetime hits and a .301 lifetime average.

    8. Ron Santo-Much like Hack, Santo was a good Cubs third baseman who may get into the Hall before too long through the Veteran’s Committee.

    9. Dale Murphy- If character counts, Murphy should have been a first-ballot inductee. The Atlanta Braves outfielder and devout Mormon deserves a spot on the All-Time Nice Guy squad, being a throw-back player who never drank and instead did things like answer children’s questions in a regular newspaper column. He also hit 398 home runs and won back-to-back Most Valuable Player awards.

    10. Dwight Gooden-Were it not for cocaine addiction derailing his career, this New York Mets phenom would have been on the inside track to Cooperstown. As it stands, his 194 victories are better than Hall of Fame hurlers Dizzy Dean and Koufax and all three pitchers had primes that lasted for similar, brief lengths.
