No period for a year and a half?

When I went anorexic, I lost my period and even though I am almost a normal weight again I haven't had it (my BMI is 18.8 now, which is in the normal range). It's been a year and a half since my last period, and I was wondering if I will ever have it again?

You need to gain more weight if you want your period to come back. They like recovering anorexics to get to a BMI of 21. You've done a lot of damage to your body and it still isn't healthy enough to function correctly. The longer you don't have a period the more likely you will be infertile when you are older (even when your period does return).

It sounds like you have secondary amenorrhea.

If you're under 45, it could be caused by many things, from simple iron-deficiency anaemia or pernicious anaemia (low vitamin B12) to hypothalamic anaemia.

You need to see your doctor for a checkup and blood workup.

The chances are that this should be easy to treat; however, if you are around 45 or over, this could mean the natural end to your periods.

no, once you've started being anorexic and stp having periods, you will never have them again regardless of how "healthy" you think you are. as such, you will never be able to have a child. you have ruined your body. good luck!!!
