POEM
by Elaine
Sing me a poem
Of sea breeze and sailboats,
Anchor at sunset
When we’re all alone
Windblown and joyful
Afloat on the Bay.
Unlock the cabin,
Open the door,
Act out your words
In gestures of love;
Sing me a poem
As I open to you.
No thumbs down from me.
MM and Cassie, I have lots of secrets, but this is not a paragraph of an autobiography. Again, I stress: "POEM is a poem is a poem."

This is your most American poem to date, maybe your best. I was hearing Sarah, Edna and Emily. I explained it in metaphor on Todd's piece. I'll give yours the literal side.
A well written story entrances the reader, opening their imaginations with common perceptions and experiences. You know the poet as the puzzle unfolds. You see a commonality of vision and share the synthesis.
A good poem is attractive. A bad poem is repulsive. IMHO.

OK OK...here's your metaphor:
A good poem is like a match to kindling, creating little fires in the readers mind. Le poème de la dame est en feu.

Elaine, have you got a secret? This speaks to me about a new opportunity.(of course I may be reading too much into it) I love poems about the sea and I am especially fond of boats. As to your question I do believe it is possible to connect with some people on the internet and build up a friendship, if you are totally honest with each other. Problem is I have heard of many cases where it has led to disappointment. I am rather an optimistic person though. Nice poem

This reminds me of an answer you gave, and thank you by the way.
I know I'm a country farm kid, but I'm such a water baby, and one day wanna live by the Sea.
There is so much poetry evolving from and revolving around the Sea and it's mystery as well as it's awesome beauty. I so enjoyed this.
To answer the question directly, I'd like to believe so.

Can YOU do better than this?
I find this barely escaping the grip of maudlin Hallmark-ism. All too often you are just stringing ideas together like pleasantries.
And I like you too much to think of you this way.

okay, this is one of your best in my eyes---along with the others...
This is the Elaine I think I know, here on the internet.
BEAUTIFUL Lady!
