Can you define a dream as mere imagination?

Or do you think dreams are of another quality?

I think dreams are our subconscious weaving a story about hidden feelings we have and aren't always aware of.

Imagination means your mind is actively engaged and that you are conscious of your thoughts.

Dreaming happens when you are asleep, and your brain is behaving very differently than it does when it is awake. Your brain waves actually change as you fall asleep and as you move through the different stages of sleep. So I don't think you can define a dream as mere imagination.

Some people are able to have lucid dreams, where they are aware they are dreaming and some can manipulate what will happen in the dream. That is an advanced skill where you combine the two - dreaming and imagination.
