    multiply by the reciprocal

    which means

    you are multiplying by '1'

    in the form of (-23/1) / (-23/1)

    -2/23 * -23/1

    the 23's cancel

    leaving

    -2/-1

    2

p.s. the negative in the fraction can be attributed to the numerator OR the denominator

whichever way will make it easier to multiply/divide

When dividing by a fraction flip it and multiply

    -2/23 * -23/1 = 2

  • 1 decade ago

    (–2/23)/(–1/23) = (–2/23)*(–23/1) = 2

you gotta multiply by the reciprocal (the fraction flipped)

so insted of-2/23 divided by -1/23 you multiply -2/23 by -23/1

so it would be 46/23, or 2.

Flip the fractions to get the bottom one to the top...So its now

    -2/23 * -23/1

Then you can cancel out the 23s simplifying them. Making it

    -2/1 *-1/1

    Which is...

    -2 * -1 = 2
