Can you play multi-player (not online) where you would have a split-screen? Is the ONLY way to play multi-player over the internet, or is there a way to play 2-players at the same time at home?

Red Dead Redemption is only single player unless you get online. So your answer is no you can't play multiplayer with a friend over split-screen.

Red Dead Redemption is:
Offline = 1 player
Online = Multi-player
You can not play multi-player in offline mode, because the only thing available for RDR is Story Mode (which is 1 player).
