Flash puts an "F" logo where content should be?

Firefox insisted I install the latest Adobe Flash on my Mac. When I did, suddenly all the "ads" on pages started appearing as empty boxes with the "F" Flash logo in the middle of them. They won't run unless I click on them. This is in several browsers.

Is that a freak accident? Or a security fix? Or something Apple did?

Sounds like a security thing, but not from flash (can't imagine a company blocking their own software or plugin). As far as I can read, you just have FlasBlock addon for Firefox turned on.

To turn it off, not sure if you have that option, but you can just uninstall the addon in the Addon manager.
