    To find the Y intercept put x as zero solve for y.

    4(0)+2y=40

    2y=40

    y=20

    Same for X intercept.

    4x+2(0)=40

    4x=40

    x=10

    I'm pretty sure that's right...

    y-intercept when x is 0. because it cuts on the vertical axis where all x-values corresponding are 0. (0,y)

    Similarly for

    x-intercepts occur when y = 0. because x intercepts cuts the horizontal axis where all corresponding y values are 0. (x , 0)

    Hope this clears it up for you.
