Head Lice HELP Please?!?
I work in education with children with special needs, some come from poor families with bad hygiene, hence head lice. I caught head lice at a different school I worked at about 3-4 years ago and got rid of it. Since then I have put tea tree oil in my shampoo bottle which is supposed to be a deter ant to lice from wanting to nest in your hair. I put about twenty drops of the oil in my shampoo bottle when I first buy it and shake it up pretty good before I use it so I don't get all the oil in one use. This week my head has been really itchy again, with red patches no larger then a sesame seed on my scalp, I have been wondering if I have caught lice from a student again. I have been looking for nits and haven't seen too much hard evidence yet, or if I might be having a reaction from the tea tree oil in my shampoo, causing my head to itch and get red spots. I can treat myself for lice and run the comb through my hair, but it is a lot of work cleaning the entire house and all my clothes etc.....so I am trying to figure out what to do here. I saw one piece that could have been a nit in my hair, but it also could have been a clump of hair spray from this morning.....any ideas?

you will see the lice every time you feel something walk part your hair and look...you will feel walking around but sense you have red spots it might be the tea i used a hair product that irritated my scalp and felt just like lice and had red spots. if you dye you hair, dye it twice and they will die. i did that i catched lice when i was at the hospital. change shampoos and dont use tea for about 3 days if it goes away then it might just be an irritation.

Treat it asap! Get yourself a nit comb and mix 8 oz of cetaphil(facial cleanser) with about 10 drops of tea tree oil and apply until hair is completely saturated. Put on a plastic cap for as long as you can stand it(the longer the better). After a few hours or so take off the cap and rinse with hot water (as hot as you can stand but it should not burn you!!!) Rinse until the water is clear then you can do a vinegar rinse to real the cuticle of the hair down. As your hair is drying take small 1/4 to 1/2 inch sections and comb with the nit comb. This is safe to use and i have used it many times with success! Don't forget to bag your pillows and other things that cannot be washed. Lice cannot stand heat over 130 degrees so feel free to blow-dry and flat iron your hair too because the lice cant stand all that high heat.
