Konnyaku...Is anyone familiar with this?

I bought some yesterday and I thought it was a package of sliced squid for soup but apparently it's made with Konnyaku, a japanese potato. It's really good and tastes and feels exactly like squid. Does anyone know anything about it? Thanks

It's made from a plantstem/corm. It is used in miso-soup and in oden among many, many other things. Check out the wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konjac it's got everything you need.

I personally don't like Konnyaku at all and can't see how you find it to taste exactly like squid. The feeling is the same however.

    Enjoy your Konnyaku!
