Odd way of putting it, I guess looking at Jesus' example while on earth & asking if HE was humble in his beliefs, I would say yes I am, since as a Christian, I know we need to follow his example & be humble & have faith, etc. But I guess I never really heard it put this way before. I'm actually proud of my beliefs & there's examples in the Bible of those who couldn't stop talking about their beliefs, it was like a fire burning inside them so they had to give a witness, & its even stated in 2 Corinthians 11:2 that "For I am jealous over YOU with a godly jealousy,..." & Exodus 34:14 says "Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God." & usually Jealousy & humble aren't used together, so I don't really know how to answer this question. It IS interesting!

I do want to ask why Nina, you feel you are humble & willing to learn? All the years you've been on here & ask the questions you do, I've never seen you accept an answer that is forthright & truthful, that uses the actual Bible to answer your questions, instead you award best answer to one of your contacts (who 100% of the time slander against Christians & honest religious groups like JW's & mormons, etc.) & then comment that you agree with them. Its just very strange to me what some people consider as "humble"!

    Interesting question.

That is anything but an easy question for me. I'm sure I seem like an arrogant know-it-all at times. And, I'm not sure that the 'do right and fear nothing' mindset that I get into when things strike me as 'wrong' is particularly humble.

On the other hand, maybe second-guessing my humility like this is humble.

On another hand, maybe concluding that I am humble as per above is NOT humble.

We could do this for a while, and I'm not even sure if I'm supposed to be humble. It can very readily be a rather sheepish quality.

I honestly don't know how to be humble about my beliefs, other than to say that faith is a gift from God, so I'm thankful He gave me the gift to believe in Him. Otherwise, I'm proud to believe in God and Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour.

Humility is a quality only held as important by the religious. Early founders of religions had a great deal of vested interest in promoting humility among their followers- keeps them complacent and from asking too many inconvenient questions.

Yes. Humble yourself before the Lord and He will lift you up. I do not rely on my own understanding, I rely on God's wisdom. I believe God knows everything and I have so much to learn.

Edit: Happy at last, well, you and your 56 % rate for best answers, it would be interesting to know how you got there. You hardly give answers on my questions that I could give the best answer. You consider it slander when we question your organization's teachings.

1 Peter 5:5-7 (King James Version)

5Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

6Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

7Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Humility is overrated, honestly. Humility is behaving dishonestly aka behaving as though one has less significance/intelligence/value than one actually does.

I see no reason to self deprecate regarding my lack of belief in deities.

No. I am proud of my beliefs and am always willing to debate some ignorant superstitious person. It's fun to make them cry.

Humility is the path to grace. It is something I work on daily.

    Great question.
