Question about Under-26 Health Insurance Plan?

I'm 22, and I've been without health insurance since I was 18. I just heard about the health care plan that allows anyone under 26 to remain on their parents' insurance.

All of the articles I've read mention that the plan will cost "$3380 per year per dependent" (or something like that). But they also mention that parents will only face a 0.7% increase in their premiums.

How much extra will my mom actually be paying? 0.7% more than she does now? Or is it actually going to be almost $300 per month?

Which is it?

Which is it? Neither. Nobody really knows and what you are reading is just speculation. It will depend upon if it is a group plan or an individual plan as well as how much the employer is paying and if they're going to continue to pay that amount. Each company will increase the premium however much it need to do to still stay viable and in business. The only way to know what your mom's insurance will do is have her call and find out.

Your Mom has to call her insurance administrator and actually ask them how much more her premium would be to put you on her insurance. You dont have to be a student and you can be married but this covers only you, no husband or children. Tell her to ask ! Her insurance company may not be able to add you until either the policy renewal date or their open enrollment date so find out when they can do it.
