New poem for comment: Does Your Species Have A Name?

"Does Your Species Have A Name?

The Earth spins and spins

on wobbly legs,

a drunk careening

down a badly lit sidewalk.

With each wobble

comes cold,

comes ice,

comes a new round of extinctions.

The Earth doesn’t care

if your species even

has a name,

never mind who your god is.

Update:

Thanks AYHy. I didn't mean for it to be subtle. I meant to beat some creationist over the head with it.

It's a little bit unsubtle, but I don't hate it.

I started an essay of a sort, once, that posited cities are pustules on the earth caused by the virus of humanity, and that the earth's immune system will cure "us" the way our bodies overcome the pox, or die trying.

Seemed kinda, I don't know...negativistic. I post an excerpt if I could find one.

Human's time has been so brief on a cosmic scale. We have in the span of 150 years fouled our own den so badly that we may indeed go extinct much sooner than we would have otherwise.

    Gaia will shrug us off.
