I want to stuff the cavities of my turkey with cut oranges. Rub outside with butter as per usual.?
If I squeeze citrus juice over it the last hour of cooking, do you think it will affect the taste of the gravy adversely?
Its the flavour of the gravy I'm concerned with... will it be nasty on mashed potatoes?! Thanks Dr. Phibes, I just might try that!

If you want an orange flavored turkey, try this:
1/2 cup of orange juice concentrate, thawed
4 tablespoons of honey
4 tablespoons melted butter
Mix together and rub all over the turkey, inside and out.
Keep whats left after rubbing the turkey down, add 3 tablespoons of water to the mix, then use it as basting juice while the turkey cooks.
This is what I do, and it turns out really good.

It may be a bit cumbersome, but I'd try to remove as much of the drippings as I could BEFORE adding the citrus juice. The juice sounds good on the bird; not so good in the gravy. Enjoy.
