what is memory overclocking?

PC memory, DDR2 , what is DDR2 400/533 and the 400MHz, 533MHz, 800 MHz and 1066MHz. What does all this mean? My motherboard says it will support unbuffered DDR2 400/533 DIMM of up to 2GB. What is my best upgrade?

CPU speeds the more MHz the more strength and speed.

When one over clocks it goes past it's maximum speed of 1066mhz or what ever the number may be by a couple of folds. Today's average CPU speed is around 2.4 Ghz ( 2400 MHz )

DDR2 is a type of memory. 2GB is how much memory your computer can hold per memory slot. 400/533 refers to the speed of the memory that your motherboard supports.

Memory overclocking means to make the memory run faster than it is meant to run. So if you had 533mhz memory, you could overclock it to 600mhz, which means it would run faster, but the part dies quicker.

Your best upgrade for that motherboard would be a 2GB DDR2 533mhz memory modules. However, your computer specs are very, very old and I would recommend buying/building a new computer. The benefit of building your own computer is that the parts are faster and a lot cheaper. You can check out http://elitepcbuilding.com/ for instructions on how to build your own computer and you can buy the parts on http://newegg.com/

    Hope this helps!
