Thoughts on online relationships?

I've been considering trying to meet someone online--as in 'relationship'. The service I'm considering is free (no, not Zoosk or Match.com), but I'm worried about meeting another control freak or worse. Has anyone ever tried an online relationship?

it honestly depends who the person is. because im in a relationship now to someone i met in a sex chat place and we are going on 2 years :) but before i was engaged to a complete psycho path who i met on yahoo. so it just depends on the person. i would try it@@ but when you met the first few times do it in public definetly and dont let him get you from your house. i learned that the hard way

There's a big difference between meeting someone online, and having an 'online relationship'. I think it's ok to have met online, but at some point, the relationship has to go ahead as normal, in person.

There seem to be people who think they can have a relationship with someone over the net, without ever even meeting them. Those are the kind of relationships that are 75% in your head.

I had never any close relationship through online but ya i got many cool friends through online chating. Is better you know the person through online and then go for a meeting.if u become sure about him then you can take your relation to close point.

Just be yourself. It doesn't matter if it's good enough for someone else.
