Magic attack is for mages.
Weapon attack is for every other class.

For mages both are almost equal though magic attack puts u in a slight advantage.

weapon attack for classes who use weapon to attacks
magic attack for mage who uses magic attacks.
And no, they are different.
Weapon attack does not benefit mage at all.

Magic Att is for Magicians. It is for spells, but spells cast by any other class are not affected by Magic Att; they rely on Weapon Att. So Magic Att is better for mages.
