    Are Condoms Safe

I don't understand your question. Yes condoms prevent pregnancy. No they are not 100% effective even when they do not break you still have a 3% chance of becoming pregnant. Do they prevent STD's? Yes but not all it depends on the STD. obviously they do not cover the whole genitalia therefore STD's like genital warts can still be transmitted. There is no birth control method that is 100% effective. If you do not want to have a child but want to have sex, you need to research all the types of birth control available and how to know if they are working effectively. If you want to use condoms I suggest also taking birth control as condoms don't always work and break sometimes. Also use a spermicide in the event that both fail. If you can get a dental dam you should use that as well, it may be a lot of work but having a child that your not prepared for is a lot more. If your not ready to take on these responsibilities then your probably not ready to be having sex. Good luck.

Okay, well condoms are suppose to prevent you from getting HIV/AIDS. It's also been told to prevent pregnancy (safe sex) But condoms aren't always safe, they can tear or rip. You should take birth control to be on the safe side in case something went wrong with the condom. Good Luck(:

A condom is considered very good for preventing AIDS. Very good but not perfect. Condoms break sometimes. Its rare but it can happen. I think the failure rate is about 5 per-cent, so its better than nothing but not perfect. You have to wear it right, put it on right, I think some kinds of lubricants can damage them.

No birth control is 100% safe, they all have risks.

Condoms are quite effective IF used correctly. Incorrect use will lead to rip/tears etc.

Have a look into birth control available - pill, injection, patches, spermicide gel to use along with condoms, that should make you feel safer and you will be.

Condoms are VERY safe, they only lack in the department of preventing some STDs.

So, as long as neither of you has an STD, condoms are a guarenteed way of preventing accidental pregnancy, just make sure they arent to small and are on right.

Good to see you plan on playing it safe, also, you can get birth control, which is also very safe if taken regularly (as advised) but will also reduce the severeness and frequency of your period dramatically.

Id look into getting both :) Good luck, and have fun.

Just thought I would share my story with you. My husband and I are very good about using birth control and we have 4 kids with a 5th on the way. Birth control is never a for sure thing. Honestly I think if you aren't ready to have a kid you aren't ready to have sex.

condoms are safe but like everything else in life things sometimes go wrong so maybe if you were to use other contraception as well (e.g the pill) although i think it might be wise to speak to your doctor or a family planning nurse
