Why wont my mom allow me to go to a old years night party? I'm 18 years oldHow do I convince her to let me go?

I'm in college, a good student, a good person, never been involved in anything illegal. I'm an all round good person.

She says that i let my older sister influence me in what ever i do but this isnt true....my sister and i are two totally complete different persons. I am an independent individual, i think for my slef, I may decisions for my self, I am not easily influenced. The only thing is that I am not a good dresser so my sister normally coordinated how I dress, and my mom probably doesnt feel all too good because I dont ask her for advice in that area.....i feel trapped, i feel stupid....and I need advice

its generally about respect and insecurities.

talk to your mother about her fears and why she feels they are justified, see what she thinks and then give your input, do not be overly hostile nor argumentative. put yourself in her shoes, have her put herself in yours, why do you feel this way and why does she.

if you live with your mother the worst thing you could do is be brash and leave, others may argue but the fact of the matter is, you live under her roof, not yours. this is where the respect comes into play.

but she must also respect you as a person.

she may just be overly worried, or controlling/protective do to some conflict in her life

talk to her, figure things out, and dont do something you may otherwise regret.

    take care and good luck

When you are 18 you are a legal adult. Tell your mom that! Say: Mom im tired of being treated like a 7 year old and im 18 a legal adult. You cant change that, I have a car and i can do what i want when i want.

If your 18, you are an adult. You can make your own decisions. Tell her that you wont drink and drive or that you wont drink at all and that you will call her after the party, so that she will pick you up. Maybe that will make her see that your planning ahead and that you are responsible. hope this helps :)

If you are 18.... just go. Let your mother know that you are old enough to make your own decisions. It's time for you to take control of your own life. You are in college for gods sake.

Move out of your mom's house. Then you can do whatever you want.
