My cat doesn't purr, ever.?
I found her in a trash can two years ago and she was barely weened. She seems to instinctively know what she can touch what she shouldn't. She really is a well behaved cat and i have never really scolded her except to change the pitch of my voice. For some reason she is the only cat I have ever had that does not purr nor is she a lap cat

Does she meow? If not, then get your cat checked by a vet - it's possible she has laryngitis, or had it, which has done damage to her anatomically.
If she still meows, then the lack of purring could simply be a behavioral problem, and all you can do is keep her happy, and maybe one day she will start purring (and keeping you awake at night). Otherwise, you'll know you still have a happy cat, purrs or not!

It might just be the cat. I've had a bunch of cats, some purr more than others. The kitten we have right now is the loudest purring cat I've ever heard. She purrs nonstop. Even if you haven't petted her yet, she purrs in anticipation lol. Our other cat is a very quiet purring cat, you almost never hear her unless she's really liking the petting. I had a really old male cat and he purred very loudly until he passed away.

If you found this cat in the trash can changes are she will never be a lap cat unless she is trained. You have to show her love and security first and than maybe she will come around and sit on your lap. Why cats do not purr is a mystery, however, some say the purr is so low you can not hear it but you can feel it. Try touching her neck.

She might just be one of those cats who don't I have had a cat my WHOLE life and i have had a couple that just don't like to be touched or held and they don't purr. I don't know weather you have this problem but the one cat we picked up off the street only likes 2 people me and my grand mother. So you might want to see if anyone else could make her purr.
I hope I helped

Some cats purr loudly, some dont purr, they all have their own quirks and personalities. It doesnt mean that there's something wrong or she's unhappy. I'm sure she's happy she has a nice home, good for you on giving her that.

She may simply not purr, but just to be on the safe side take her to the vet. Give her lots of unconditional love and treats. It may perk her up. Try holding her close to your shoulder so you can press your ear against her side while petting her neck and ears. You might just hear a small purr. One of my cats that I own has a very quite purr and can only be heard if you hold her really close, which she loves.

I had a cat once since a kitten. He never purred. When I took him to the vet, I asked him about it. He told me that one cat in 300,000 did not purr. Just to be safe, call the vet and have her checked out. It may be another problem.

since she was a stray, she probably isnt used to affection. Also, my cat actually does purr, but you cant hear her do it hahaha. Last, its okay if she isnt a lap cat, some breeds are, some breeds arent, it just depends on the cat. shes finee! thats just her personality
