2010 Horse of the Year?
I was wondering who most people think should be voted Horse of the Year in this January's Eclipse Awards and why? I have a definite favorite, but I want to read your answers with an open mind.

Based on the fact that Zenyatta was undefeated 19-0 going into the Classic of 2010, and winning The Classic in 2009, along with the fact that she was only beaten a head in her entire career, bodes well for her to be Horse of the Year. Some will argue that she lost the Classic to Blame and therefore will not get the award. Blame was very game to outlast Zenyattas late surge, but I justify Zenyatta by the fact that during the 2010 racing season, Blame was not unbeaten leading up to the Classic and since Zenyatta, who was denied Horse of the year in 09 by Rachael Alexander, who dodged her in the Classic, it would be fitting and right that Zenyatta be named Champion. Goldikiva also has a legit claim to the Award! Crazy year, the way it all unfolded. The fans choose Zenyatta, but unfortunately Blame will most likely receive the Award and once again Zenyatta will be denied what she deserves. It can all be chalked up to the votes cast by the likes of Andy Beyer (a joke in the world of handicapping in my opinion), mis managing fellas like Steven Christ, (Gee, I hope Mike Watchmaker isn't eligible),along with others who really should not have a vote at all. Sad as sad can be!! The vote should be a shared 50/50 between the fans who support the sport and the owners, trainers, and jockeys who work with a labor of love to provide these great races, and not those who entice the public with their so called expertise!!

It seems very late for the award however I would say that Zenyatta deserves it. Although she is a mare and lost her last race and ended her career with an official rating that was too low to be fair being just 128 or 131 (if fillies allowance was lifted) she deserves it for being a brilliant racehorse, and arguably the one of the best in the world for 2010. That stat is unlikely. I couldn't see Blame being given the award and with Goldikova winning the European HOTYA, it could be a mares year.
Edit:
And by the way Jerry even if the question was 'who was the horse of all time' you still wouldn't be right.

i might decide for to declare that the yankee horse of the 300 and sixty 5 days is Zenyatta although on type foundation it must be Blame as he beat her of their very final race. Blame finished in front of Zenyatta interior the Breeders Cup classic and whether it became by way of the narrowest of margins and Zenyatta became in all probability the terrific horse interior the race, Blame on type foundation is extra acceptable than her and subsequently that win ought to garuantee him the yankee horse of the 300 and sixty 5 days. Its in basic terms a shame that over in europe Blame and Zenyatta have been overshadowed by way of paintings rigidity, Harbinger and Goldikova and so no longer many human beings care approximately them. whether nonetheless i'm useful that the wins of paintings rigidity, Harbinger and Goldkova have been overshadowed by way of Zenyatta and Blame by way of human beings. in any case getting back to indicate, I stongly have faith that Blame gets the yankee Horse of the 300 and sixty 5 days award. Its an award for the 300 and sixty 5 days no longer, I repeat no longer for an entire carear, which i think is why many human beings save desiring Zenyatta for horse of the 300 and sixty 5 days.

It's not late..Mid January is the celebration. In my opinion Zenyatta..definitely overall..Goldikova and Zenyatta are different class horses..so depends on what class your talking, assuming dirt my pick is Zenyatta, if turf then Goldikova. Surprised on how may regulars just don't understand horse racing, you can't compare a dirt horse with a turf horse..come on..?!

Personally, I'd say Zenyatta. I know she lost in the Breeders' Cup Classic, but as we saw last year (when she won it), that doesn't automatically lock up the Horse of the Year title.
