how is arabic 'hadhaa' made up? meaning hadha= this is?

in 'Madinah' lesson 1 part 1 he makes a complete horse's *** of it and seems to be suggesting that 'haa' = this and seeing that there is no verb 'to be' in arabic how does 'hadhaa' then come out as 'this is'?

if u want to learn a new language try not to look deeply into it..just take it as it is.

and "hadhaa" as u typed it means this is , hadhaa used when u r pointing out to something that is masculine, or a male.

hadihi" means this is also,,but it is used when u r pointing out to something feminine , or a female

    Example:

hadhaa Omar( male) means this is Omar.

hadhaa hisaan. means this is a hourse

hadihi Laila( female)means this is Laila.

hadihi safina. means this is a ship
