URGENT! Buying a puppy that needs to be shipped over?
I have been in the greater Toronto area market for buying a puppy, mainly a male miniature goldendoodle. I recently came into contact with someone from Hailifax giving one up from adoption. The puppy is 12 weeks old, up to date of shots, vet checked and has all correct documentation. I am unfamiliar with the transportation procedure, but from some research I found out I will pay on arrival, and since the owner is not selling the dogs, but giving it away, I do I am curious if this is a scam or not? It seems legit, but my main question, is what should I ask, look into, be cautious about, etc. Thank you for you help.

It probably is. What they do is contact you in a day with a panic story that the dog is stranded somewhere and they don't have the money to release the dog but if you'll just send $415 so they can get the dog on another flight they'll reimburse you as soon as they get their paycheck or some other equally crazy deal. Ask for their address, then contact the local HS or Rescue organization and ask them to do a quick eval. Tell them that's what you are doing and see how fast they avoid. Tell them to send a photograph of them WITH the local shelter in the background and the name of the shelter manager that you can call to confirm they are legit.

Google dog scams & this scam will be one of the top ones. This question is asked on here daily & is a scam - there is no puppy. No reason a highly desirable puppy would need to be shipped & given to some stranger. You can even check with any major airport about the number of pet scams about supposedly shipped pets that have been fully paid for but never appear. Nothing in life is free.

My family almost bought a yorkie on line but since the yorkie was expensive to ship we didn't. A few days later when we were looking for dogs closer we found the site shut down because of scamming.

DON'T DO IT! First, you've never seen this puppy. Yes, the puppy would have had to been vet cleared before flying it. It's too risky, and have seen and heard terrible things that have happened to people that have done what you are doing. Golden doodles are EVERYWHERE! Please look locally at shelters, rescue groups, Human Society. ASPCA.

This is not a good idea. Chances are the dog is from a puppy mill. GO TO A SHELTER INSTEAD AND SAVE A LIFE!

first of all why are you buying a sickly MUTT and supporting puppymills and unethical breeders?
nothing seems legit with the infomation you have provided, save your money and go to a REPUTABLE breeder.

Maybe there is something wrong with the dog? Maybe he is sick or he is free because he really does not have anything maybe he is lieing.
