Can someone help me with this math problem? Please?

During the summer, Magic Mountain can hold a maximum of 35,000 people at the park. On a given Saturday, the park grew at a rate of 20 people per minute plus 100 people that were in the park when it first opened.

There's 8 questions in total based on the story above, and one of them is....

How many people are in the park at: a) 20 minutes, b) 30 min c) 40 min d) 50 min e) 1 day?

20 minute = 500 people

30 minute = 700 people

40 minute = 900 people

50 minute = 1100 people

1 day (24 hours) = ???

I don't get the last one. The equation to the problem is y = 20x + 100, so for 1 day or 24 hours, the problem is supposed to be 20 x 24 + 100? But the answer is 580, which is less than minute 50. So is that the answer or is it something else? Please help!

You're using minutes for a) to d), ie. y= 20x(no. of minutes) + 100, but in e) you've made the mistake of using 24 as the x value, which is wrong, as it is the time in hours. Try y = 20 x (24x60) + 100. Hope this helps.

    (20 minutes) 500x3 (20 x 3 = 60 (minutes) = 1500x24 (24 hours in a day) = 36,000
