Spiritually wondering, when having a conversation, do you listen or are you waiting for your turn to speak?

    If you don't listen,

    you won't learn nuthin'.

And if what I'm listening to is worthless babble,

I've just learned to nudge the conversation in a different direction..

  • I really listen if I feel the conversation has value and will allow me to glean important information so that I can participate in the discussion or give advice. If it's just my best friend talking about how her son had the hiccups again then I am only listening for periods of silence so I can say "uh-huh".

Guilty of both but am learning to do more listening. The person speaking may say something , if I listened without formulating my response in my mind while he/she is speaking, that would lead me to making a different response.

    it depends and varies.

I think most are just waiting for their turn. Listening is a true art. I highly recommend the book "How to win friends and influence people" by Dale Carnegie. It's old but priceless.

Both. I could be more of a listener or more of a talker. Depending on the other person.
