I'll use the examples you have first!

Apollo- he can be a famous musician / dancer. being the God of music, you can compare him to Taio Cruz, Eminem, Mike Posner, or another famous male singer!

Jupiter- Barack Obama. He has lots and LOTS of power (like Jupiter, the Roman equivalent of the Greek god of the gods). Or you could look at how Jupiter was often unfaithful in a relationship and often cheated, so compare him to Charlie Sheen or some other celebrity known for cheating on women!

Mars- Chris Brown. He was the violent God of war, and it's kinda suitable to compare him to Chris after the bashing incident with Rhianna (http://www.undercover.fm/news/7512-rihanna-found-b...

Mercury- This is hard, seeing as he was basically the messenger god. Maybe any male God with great messengers to share ...?

Venus- Kim Kardashian / Megan Fox. Well known as gorgeous women, they are great to compare to the seductive Goddess of love!!

Pluto- Ian Thorpe or another swimmer. Pluto is the God of the ocean and water, so a famous swimmer is quite suitable!

Icarus- Well, I guess you could do R. Kelly. He's the guy who sang the song 'I believe I can fly', and Icarus' story was mainly about flying! Or maybe a celebrity with big ambitions and hopes ...

Ulysses- Basically any one adventurous, dedicated and strong would do well here. Maybe Taylor Lautner, he looks like he could fight really well and is DEFINITELY dedicated to his work!

Paris- Basically any prince of your choice would be great here!!

Hector- Here a prince with a strong personality would be good!

Midas- Kanye West. Ever since the diamonds on the teeth, he's reminded me more and more of Midas!!

Achilles- Hmm .... somebody with a small weakness, but over all really strong and great. Maybe Zac Efron? http://www.chacha.com/question/what-is-zac-efron's...

This isn't on your list, but I'd also compare Justin Bieber to Narcissus. He's a well-known teen heart throb and knows it!

    Hope I helped

They cannot be compared. You cannot compare powerful, infinitely wise and beautiful deities (as the Greeks themselves describe them) and the rather banal, self-absorbed all-too-human 'modern day celebrities'. You cannot even compare the great heroes of mythology (such as Hector, Hercules, Aeneas) to them, because they had purposes and divine destinies that cannot possibly be compared to modern day accomplishments. Could you really compare Aeneas' long and difficult journey to give birth to a new people (the Romans) to winning an Oscar? Don't think so.

You obviously don't understand the true meaning of the word 'mythology'. Christianity is based on the myths of Jesus the Christ. Myths are stories that involve deities and that also, usually, are teaching stories, i.e. stories that show how one should live, etc. Our civilizations are not scientifically based enough that 'myth' is no longer necessary. But who is to say that, sometime in the far future, our descendants won't think that our modern stories of things are merely 'myths'. If our civilization should collapse at some point, and our technology lost, then, in the far future, our history of going to the moon, building complex computers, etc. may well be relegated to 'myths of the 20th - 21st centuries'.
