Is there an evolutionary reason why women might like shoes?

My 18 month old daughter is already in love with them. Seriously, is there a reasonable explanation for this other than just "women try to attract the best mate"? (........because honestly, we hardly ever notice the shoes....)

Update:

I didn't say EVERY female, but this is very common among women. Chill.

But why shoes?

I own two pairs of Converses and a pair of flip flops.

    Don't even go there, mister.

    EDIT:

    It's just a statement. I don't need to "chill".

But I don't know any woman who is obsessed with shoes,

    as the stereotype implies.

Maybe your daughter just likes shoes.

Maybe it has nothing to do with the fact that she's female.

It's like the cliche that black men are obsessed with shoes.

Can't people just like shoes (or ANYTHING) without other people being like,

"Oh, it's an obvious result of his/her sex or race."

The higher the quality of shoes, the more likely the male has the resources to give to his mate.
