Break your routines and habits, make sure u dont have access to cigarettes after meals, when driving or when your most likely to feel like one. The craving will usually only last for a couple of minutes so have things on hand to distract yourself when you think of smoking, try chewing gum, cracking some press ups, pull ups, or drinking a glass of fruit juice or water. Avoid drinking alcohol in the early stages and being around other smokers if possible. Refuse to buy cigarettes! Try going for a run once a day while feeling the air cleansing your system as you breath it in. Remember to build on the amount of time youve gone with out, if you can last half a day you can last a whole day, if you last a day you can last a week and if you last a week your past the worst. GOOD LUCK!

There are a lot of different ways to quit smoking, the issue is which one will allow you to be successful at quitting.
Going cold turkey or using 'alternative methods' like hypnotherapy have the worst success rates.
The most successful method is to use some form of medication, like a nicotine patch, nicotine gum or chantix, in combination with counseling and support (self-help group or telephone support groups).
Check out: http://whatworkstoquit.tobacco-cessation.org/
It lists 17 different ways you can quit smoking, which ones have the most success, how much they cost and where you can buy/find them. There's also a chart that allows you to compare all the methods.
You can totally do this. My grandfather smoked for over 60 years and was able to stop in his early 80s.

I'm going to quit the habit myself, and looked into methods that work the best, and found a site that list all brands with their nicotine content in each. You can switch brands each week and eventually go to the lowest nicotine content, then go to the patch, maybe the 3rd stage kind for a couple of weeks. Check it out, and maybe it will work. http://pw1.netcom.com/~rdavis2/cigrs.html

okay, my aunt has been smoking for like 10 years too and she had to quit cause she was pregnant... she got an electric cigarette that didnt have nicotine, it was just there to stop her habit of wanting to hold the cigarette, because thats what you'll miss the most... is holding it. but if you cant afford it or cant get it or anything, just dont buy them, and chew gum when you want a one.! hopeee thiss helps!(:

Some people seem to respond well to the Pfizer Pharmaceutical drug called "Chantix" Only a doctor can prescribe and it will like other drugs have potential side effects and risks.
