I cannot say I have ever heard God speak to me in an audible voice. However, you can hear with your heart, your conscience so to speak if you will. I have heard, and this makes sense to me, you can hear 3 voices, your own, God's, and the devil, in your mind. But listening to God speaking to your heart can be like making a new friend and speaking to them on the phone. When they call, at first you don't recognize their voice until after a few times, then you do recognize their voice. It is like that, learning to hear God in your heart.

"God speaks to us today through His Holy Spirit. We can hear His voice. It’s not a sound, it’s a voice. It’s not something you hear with your ears but in your mind. Once you learn to recognize and respond to this voice you’ll recognize it often. It’s a gentle whisper, not a shout. God speaks rich and enlightening thoughts to our spirit by His Spirit. Often this still, small voice speaks rich and enlightening thoughts by causing a burning within my heart.

The disciples who talked with Jesus on the road to Emmaus that first Resurrection Sunday experienced this. Luke 24:32 says, “They asked each other, ‘were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?’”

I hope this helps out a little. And you don't have to be in a building called a church to hear from God. He will speak to your heart where you are at anytime.

God speaking to Man(or woman) directly with words is called 'Divine Revelation'. God used this to send specific messages to specific people/tribes, however, that time ended at Ascension of Jesus Christ.

However he sent his Holy Spirit to minister to be our helper... and minister to our heart.

It's normal for your mind to play tricks on you occasionally when you meditate... but God can speak to you through anything, not just by planting voices in your head.

Well the Church part has Absolutely nothing to do with it but it could be.

The best way to tell is if what you are being told is Absolutely devoid of any judgment and is loving with no conditions.

    Love and blessings don

  • If you open your Heart and have the Faith to listen then absolutely. Reading your Bible and praying help. When you pray, you are talking to God. When you read your Bible with an open Heart and Faith, God talks to you. Hope that helps. Have a Blessed Day

sure he says look around at all my good lambs flocking to me and look at all of those you know that are watching football instead of being here to gain knowledge
