    My mom had a hedgehog. They're cool but they don't really do much. And they're hard to handle and play with because of the quills. Parrots aren't great, they're a lot of work and not much reward. My mom has had 2 different kinds. They're loud, very very messy and can get mean.

    I have a ferret I just got recently and he's awesome. Yes, he poops on the floor sometimes but the poops aren't big at all and very easy to clean. They usually go in the same couple spots so you can lay down newspaper in the favorite areas and you're good. As long as you make sure they potty before you take them out, you've got a good 2-3 hours to go without worry. They are definitely work, though a lot less work than a parrot or a hedgehog but SO worth it.

    They are so much fun! They have this adorable bouncing run and they'll run after you and jump at your legs and hide in random places. Their smell is a little strong at first but you get used to it and they don't make your house stink unless you don't clean out the litter box everyday.

    You don't need to buy bedding for them, just use old towels and t-shirts. I've found over any litter I've tried, Perry prefers to go on newspaper.

    They aren't as high maintenance as everyone makes them out to be. I love my ferret, I'm going to be one of those people that just always has a ferret or 2 from now on. He is honestly the best pet I have ever owned.

    Its actually better to not have a lot of space when you have a ferret. A large cage, yes but not a huge running around area. You always want to know where your ferret might be and with a large place, it'll be harder to keep track. Mine has never chewed wires and he's never bitten me or anyone else. Only in play and it's not biting, he stops his teeth from closing. They are sociable and friendly animals. Don't listen to the negative things people say about ferrets. People who say those things have never owned one and are only telling you what they have heard.

    I've by no means had a hedgehog however all i do know is that if you aren't getting it younger or spend LOTS of time with it he'll be very difficult to keep since they have got believe you ample to position their spines down. I will inform you what I understand approximately ferrets. Ferrets do have a moderate smell, so recollect wherein you'll be retaining it. I would not hold it in a room like...the kitchen if ya understand what i imply. Also, how so much time will you be spending with it? they want approximately four hours of out-of-cage time an afternoon, and if you do not feel you'll be able to do this daily then I could get two so you do not consider as responsible while you should not have time to play with it. They want their litterboxes scooped approximately a couple of times an afternoon relying on what number of you've gotten, and so they want lovely huge cages. Also, they're susceptible to many cancers, so do you've gotten a vet on the way to take ferrets close you? Don't shower them too probably or they are going to stink extra. You ought to clip their nails approximately as soon as a month or each and every 6 weeks or so. They are very unique and a laugh to play with! And are also very affectionate, they probably the most first-class pets i have ever had! i have no idea what else to inform you, besides RESEARCH! Both of those animals don't seem to be like your average hamster and do honestly want lovely designated care. I wish I helped and well success!

    Start by doing some research into each animal. Make sure you know all the pros and cons. For example Parrots squawk . . . a lot are you prepared to handle that. Ferrets can get into everything and the love to steal and chew rubber. once you decide what you are comfortable with you should look into adoption because there are many of these types of animals that need homes because people didn't do some research first. Please please don't pick an animal based on its looks alone. You sound like you are really putting some though into choosing an animal so make sure to pick one that fits your lifestyle.

    Good luck

    Ferret, I babysat one once (weird right?) and when the family was away it was a blast. The ferret was playful and smart. I asked myself where could the food be and he was already pushing it down from the cabinet. It is a bunch of fun and easy to take care of with proper care.

    - ferrets smell really bad and need alot of room so you need alot of space and they usually poop everywhere, they also chew wires so be careful. But they are cute and fuzzy.

    - parrots are loud and make a mess. But they are great friends and can sit on your shoulder + you can teach them tricks.

    - hedgehogs are hard to care for, But are awesomely adorable and cute.

    I had a lovebird and they are really smart, mine knew how to open it's cage so we had to tie it. In the end it's your choice good luck :D

    Ferrets are awesome! There is absolutely nothing like it. A ferrets curiosity never dims. I had a ferret once and i could never get board of it just running around looking at things...playing with things, and he never got board either. And personally i don't think they smell bad at all. There so cute tooo!!!

    Ferret = Fiesty, energetic, poop and pee on the floor, naughty but playful

    Hedgehog = Cute, small, not very playful

    Birds = Annoying

    You decide :P

    a ferret -- they are very smart and docile, with a personality in between that of a cat and a dog.
