Can you get the flu if you're on an antibiotic?
Hi everyone,
My brother recently had the flu and now my mom has it. I have a sinus infection and am on an antibiotic. Can I still catch this flu or am I safe because I'm on this antibiotic? I really don't want to get that sick...
Thanks for any info you have for me!

Antibiotics don't treat viral infections. Flu is an upper respiratory viral infection. You are still vulnerable to the flu. I strongly suggest that you keep your distance from your mother and brother. And I also suggest that you and your family be vaccinated when you're all recovered. There are several flus that the vaccine covers.

doesn,t help. the flu is a virus. antibiotics work on bacteria. two different beasts. you need a flu shot.
