One windshield wiper not moving......?

We had some snow last week and had a lot of ice on my wipers. I thought that I had gotten it cleared away and when I turned on my wipers only the drivers side one moved. The other one does not move at all. I've been looking online and am not really sure what I need to do. Do I need to tighten a bolt, or do I just need a new wiper? I tried lifting it up this morning to see if it would and it went up some, but it also seemed very loose at the end like it would have been able to be pulled out. Any help's appreciated!!!

Update:

It's a 1998 volvo s90

try to tighten the bolt on it first if its lose, other wise its the motor which depending on the car can be around 50 bucks

sounds like you turned your wiper on while it was frozen solid. it probably stripped the wiper out you may get by with just tightening the wiper arm up. if not Replacement is your best option. be sure to get the whole arm though and not just the blade.

Sounds like you stripped out the wiper arm where it attaches to the wiper transmission.

Need to remove the arm to check. Since you didn't say what year or kind of car I can't tell you how to remove it.

If the wiper arm and transmission splines aren't stripped you more then likely broke the wiper transmission.

Hope for you it's just the wiper arm. You can buy a new one at the dealer.

If it's the transmission splines or transmission itself, dependent on what kind of car you have, it can be quite expensive to replace it.

there is a nut under the cover at the bottom of the arm. Just tighten it.
