Can someone tell me why my parents do this...?

My brother is 19 and I'm 15. I feel like my brother is given more of an option of what he wants instead of me. For example, recently, my dad made some french fries. He said to me "[my name], have some french fries". I told him No thanks, I just ate and was full. But my dad was so persistent in it and kept telling me "C'mon have one. They're good" at the moment and every time I passed by the kitchen. I kept telling him I was full. He finally stopped after going on and off for like 30 minutes. He then asked my brother if he wanted. and when my brother said No thanks, my dad said "okay" and left it at that...

And when my parents talk to my 19 year old brother about me and my sister(who's 17), me and her are always referred to as "the kids". I don't get it. There's only a 4/2 year age difference. My brother JUST started college and suddenly, he's just like any other adult in the household while me and my sister are still "the kids".

Age has nothing to do with it. Pretty soon, like real soon, you and your siblings could be gone, out on your own. Your parents have been 'parents' for at least 19 years. It's a hard habit to break. Parenting requires your mind and body to remain in overdrive because you have to continually care for others as well as yourself. They just need to downshift gears. They will, but it might be tough on them.

That seems weird. I'm sure there's more dynamics to it than that (your relationship with your parents and such) but it's just one of those things that some parents do...I'm sure it will pass.

Try talking to them about it or maybe other family members like your other siblings. They all will know better than any stranger will.

In my mind, a kid of all grown up if he/she is pass 18. I think it's just a sense of number thing people have. like I think 79 is a bad mark but 80 is great.
