crazy and bold, but 2011 world series prediction: Reds vs White Sox?
Is this a good prediction that doesn't involve the Phillies or the Red Sox?
I think the White Sox will have a solid pitching rotation in Jake Peavy, Mark Buerhle, Gavin Floyd, John Danks, and Edwin Jackson. That's a solid rotation right there. Plus with the addition of Adam Dunn, they have a pretty stacked lineup.
I think the reds will be good too. mike leake will win 15 games, and I think Aroldis Chapman will do well too. They also got johnny cueto and edison volquez (thoguh he's inconsistent) who are pretty dang filthy pitchers. They have a solid young squad, especially with joey votto, brandon phillips, jay bruce, etc.

You're AL prediction is respectable but I'm not sure about the NL.
The White Sox have a solid rotation and a solid offense but in the American League, "solid" hasn't meant much more than the first round of the playoffs. Take a look at the Minnesota Twins. They have had a "solid" rotation and an "above average" lineup for quite a long time but they're 0-12 in their last 12 playoff games. The White Sox should have a solid regular season but they don't have enough to break the first round.
The Reds are the same way. Their rotation is just ok and their offense is just above average. I don't see how you can give them the benefit of the doubt. They haven't changed their roste in the off-season so I don't see how they've improved enough to outlast the Giants or the Phillies.
If anything over the past few seasons has shown us is that pitching means everything. Neither team you have selected has the best pitching in the league or the best hitting in that sense. The Phillies and Red Sox are the favorites for a reason. They have solid rotations and above-average offenses. It should be a decent regular season but the post-season is rather predictable.

Well, the reads are pretty good, in a weak division.
But I think that the Twins are a better all around team then the PaleHose.
And let's not forget the tigers, they have a good starting rotation, with Verlander at the core, and a great lineup, with AJAX (Austin Jackson), Miggy, and Ordonez.
So the WSOX would have a pretty hard time winning the division, let alone the World Series.

white sox i can see , reds not so much, not with the brewers new rotation and of course "The Machine" both in the same division , reds made a good run last year and seems like they do that every couple of years not likely in '11 peavy, buerhle, floyd, danks, and jackson though watch out

It's no crazier than the pick of Red Sox - Phillies that you're going to see everywhere come spring training. No one really knows what's going to happen...

At last! Someone who understands the game! Teams have stock-piled great players before only to disappoint. The winners next year are PROBABLY going to be teams most wouldn't pick. I'll go along with this pick.

Reds aren't going to make the playoffs.
White Sox aren't aren't a deep team if they make the playoffs.
