Did you know that the cannabinoid receptor is the most prevalent cellular receptor in our brains?

http://www.medicalcannabis.com/Cannabis-Science/en...

This mystery began to unravel in 1964, when tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, the main psychoactive chemical in cannabis was isolated and synthesized by Raphael Mechoulam and colleagues in Israel. Subsequently, in 1988, Allyn Howlett and colleagues discovered the cannabinoid receptor in the brain. This receptor called CB1was a precise match for the unique chemicals called cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant (phytocannabinoids). This initial discovery led to scientists hypothesizing that humans are "wired" for cannabis. The CB1receptors have been found in the brain in areas that control the coordination of movement, emotions, memory, reduction of pain, reward systems, and reproduction, yet are almost absent in the brain stem (which affects our vital functions such as breathing). It appears that cannabinoid receptors, which modulate other neurotransmitter function in a retrograde “on demand” fashion are present in far higher concentrations in the brain than any other receptor. While the CB1 receptors are primarily found in the central nervous system, a second type, CB2, discovered in 1993, are found primarily in the immune system, GI tract, liver, spleen, kidney, bones, heart, and peripheral nervous system. In fact, the CB2 receptor appears to be up-regulated whenever there is tissue pathology.

What do you think about this?

Is it true?

Did the government know?

Does it make you mad??

Update:

Anonymous... the 2nd leading cause of death in America and you say we have "more matters on Earth right now" (whatever that means?)??

Slew... you didn't follow any of the links, so how could you say that? I'm not talking about fighting nausea for chemo patients... they've done studies and they show that cannabis actually causes cancer cells to eat themselves through a process called "autophage".

Google it. And next time check out the links before you answer.

Update 2:

xpatinasia... really? How many studies have you done on the subject? There have been plenty of very promising studies that have been done by people who DO know what they're talking about, and they seem to show that THC makes the cancers cells eat themselves without hurting other healthy cells around them.

Update 3:

Rodger Dodger... where are these "mountains of evidence" you refer to? You didn't provide any links.

I did. Did you look at any of them?

Update 4:

Baa Baa... Smoking pot is not enough to kill tumors. It is enough to aid a little in preventing cancer, like and antioxidant. They've found that chronic pot smokers are less likely to get lung cancer than people who didn't smoke at all because mj works as a protectant. Seriously.

You have to ingest large amounts of the oil of the hemp plant in order to kill ravenous cancer and tumors.

Apparently marijuana does offer some hope, well at least some of the chemicals contained in marijuana offer this hope.

I think that we are still several years away from making the claim that marijuana cures cancer and I also think that it will be hard to make a decision as to when treatment for cancer or Alzheimers should begin.

Would a doctor prescribe it for patients that are at risk as a preventive measure? Is it to late to use marijuana after the discovery of a tumor? It will take many more years to make an accurate determination of how fast acting or just how much good this would do.

There are also new vaccines that have proven, in small study groups, to attack brain cancer. Currently brain cancer victims live only about 1 year. The new vaccine has shown to extend life to 5 years. Of course these vaccines as well as the use of marijuana both have many years of testing and further research to go through before anyone makes a statement as to its actual benefits.

Personally I would rather take a shot in the arm (or butt) than to sit around smoking a joint.

Actually medicinal marijuana is fantastic as a pain relief and DOES help with glucoma. Here in Australia patients can get medical certificates to smoke weed 100% legal, in some states here its legalised and you can grow it and smoke it. Theres nothing immoral about smoking weed, infact weed was around long before european man and his "morals" the ancients used to toke and also use it for clothing, bags and other items. While marijuana does not cure cancers and other diseases it is a great pain relief and its alot better than being addicted to pain killers that mess with your organs. Personally I say toke up if you feel good and youre not in any pain. I have

You live on fantasy island. Pot does not and will not ever cure cancer. Don't believe everything you read to be true. My brother smoked pot since he was a teenager and died almost a year ago. He was full of cancer. Why didn't it help him? The only thing it helped was to take away some of the nausea from chemo, nothing else. Guess this premise of it curing cancer just doesn't do the job when it comes to real people who have real cancer. Maybe they should try it on real people who have cancer instead of mice. If it were true from what I read, he should have never gotten any cancer in the first place based on the links you gave yet cancer killed him. He was a daily pot user for many many years. How did he end up with cancer?

Clearly, indisputably, and with out any doubt whatsoever, pot does not, in any way, "cure" cancer. There is (are?) mountains of evidence that totally, 100%, disprove that stupid theory.

Your premise is false. Marijuana does not cure cancer.

Yes pot has many great uses. Even if abused terribly, it will NEVER be as destructive as alcohol or even caffeine.

The main reason that pot is illegal is so the prison industrial complex can have a steady supply of non violent offenders to act as their slaves.

The cost and burden to our legal system in almost every county is unjustified.

Obviously you don't know what a cure is and what cancer is. Marijuana might help eleviates some problems incolcing treating cancer, but unlike a drug, there is a lack of consistency in product.
