Critique my equitation (English)?

1st Picture: Walk- This was when I was 8. I was getting ready for a Pony Club Dressage Rally

2nd Picture: Trot- Green As Grass eventing show 3 years ago

Canter: Back from August

3rd Picture: Jumping- from about 4 years ago. I realize my leg is RIDICULOUSLY too far back. Other then that...

Jumping: My first jump with my big horse. It was his first time jumping in 2 years. Also my first time jumping in a year. It's not very pretty... but any pointers?

Please critique my equitation! Thank you!

1st. Thumbs need to be up, not sideways. Otherwise, for an 8 year old, you look great.

2nd. Stirrups too high. Heels don't look to be pointed down...hard to tell, but again thumbs need to be up. Shoulders back.

Canter. You're leaning too far towards the inside. Stirrups too short. Sit up straight more.

3rd. Yes...leg is really far back. Move the leg forward more, then you won't be actually riding the horse's neck. Butt needs to be a bit more over the saddle. Arms more forward.

Jumping. Move those arms forward to the horse's neck. You're pulling back on the reins way too much. Grasp with your knees, and they won't go flopping on the horse's sides.

    Hope this helps :)

In almost all your pictures it looks like you back is a bit too arched and you look very stiff through the back, and most of your upper body.

Have someone check your back and make sure it is flat, not hollowed out when you are riding.

You were kind of pumping and bouncing in your canter. Relaxing your back, and staying loose through your upper body will help. Not where you are flopping all over of course, just loose enough to have an active seat and move with the horse. Also your stirrups look way too short, unless you were doing some serious jumping. Lengthening them will help get you in a better position and transfer you weight down.

Like everyone else said, hands in the first & second pic, in the second pic if you put your heels down more it should give you the perfect line of shoulders, hips, heels (which you are pretty close to already)

In the first jump, like you said you legs are too far back which is causing you to almost lay on his neck.

In the second jump, relax your upper body, it's hard to tell from the angle but it looks like you are so tense you are not moving with him, which is causing you to get left behind and pull on his mouth playing catch up.

Overall you look pretty good, and you did a good job jumping after not doing it in a while. I think if you relaxed a bit you'd look perfect.

You pulled back on the reins as you went over the jump, and your feet went way too far back. Other than that you look pretty good and have a pretty secure looking seat

1- During the walk you have piano hands. Remember thumbs to the sky. My instructor always taught me to pretend i am holding two ice cream cones and if i turn my hand i will drop it.

2- in the trot you need to bring your hands up 3 inches above the whithers. and you could have a bit more depth in your heel, your body angle is a bit too upright. lean forward just a tad

3-In the canter you again need to raise your hands. and try sinking into the canter a bit more so your bottom doesnt come out of the saddle at all. and try keeping your upper body quiter because it looks like your pumping with your upper body.

4- in the jump the pony is amazing. with his knees neatly tucked. it looks like you have jumped ahead of the motion causing your leg to go back and you to lay on the horses neck. also release! your hands should be infront of your own face. when jumping just go into 2point and wait for the horse to jump up to you.

5- on the biger horse when he jumped you pulled right back on his poor mouth. dont forget to release! it looks like you got left behind and both of you were unbalanced after the jump. balance when going to a jump and after. his jump looks good he snapped his knees right up and square but his head is too high, probably because of no release.

    3) very nice rhythm , sitting a bit far back, hands up --- Canter

Jumping (1) yes your leg is far back lol

Jumping(2) You need to put ur hands forward cuz ur pulling on the horses mouth.
