What brand of replacement windows are the best for the money?

The windows I would like to find would be very easy to open and close, such that you could do it with one finger, and very reliable. The mechanism to open and close them should still work as well 20 years later. Vibration should never make them close themselves. The glass should be relatively hard to break. They should be moderately energy efficient, but that's of secondary importance, because they're for a moderate climate, where it rarely gets above 100F or below 10F, and in a place where energy costs are relatively low.

What Brand? Any brand... Just make sure you install the correct windows for your climate. Double pane is best but more costly. Talk to any dealer to see what they recomend for your area. If doing the installation yourself make sure you install them correctly to save energy costs later.

Depends on your area. Harvey windows are very popular in the Northeast--vinyl or wood construction with federal incentive glass packages. very affordable and offer many different options and colors.

Andersen are good, but pricey. Pella is decent, but have heard of many problems with some of their sash.

Depends alot on what style, material, color and price point your trying to achieve. make sure your glass specs are compliant with your local area. the most important feature of the window is the glass.

Most replacement windows are good, just don't get wrapped up in a lifetime warranty line of bull, because the only thing warranted is the frame not glass.Mine were American Windows and have held up reasonable well.

I think Anderson Windows are very good. I've had them several years on my house. Double pane and they have held up good. You might want to check with Consumer Affairs Recommendations.
