Tips for a teen wishing to make the transition to vegetarianism?
I'm 14 years old and have tried and failed to become a vegetarian many times. My parent are not very supportive of this idea, and they continue to try and make me eat meat. I'm making this decision because I feel gross when thinking about how I'm eating something's carcass, and I love animals and advocate animal rights. But then, like a hypocrite, I go home and eat meat for dinner. I'm having a really hard time with this. If you have any tips for me, they would be greatly welcomed and appreciated. In particular, can anyone give me some tips as to how to encourager\ my parents to be more supportive? Thank you for any advice you have to offer :) <3
To any anti-vegetarianism people, I ask you to be respectful or else leave. I'm not looking for opinions, I'm looking for help.

They should be your motivation! It was definitely mine. My parents thought it was a joke and thought I was just going through a phase. I wanted to prove them wrong, and went vegetarian overnight.
No matter what, it's your decision, not theirs. Make sure they know that part of growing up is developing your own morals and beliefs, and that this is something you're very passionate about. Let them know they might as well get used to it because it's not going to change. And I'm sure eventually they'll ease up and leave you be.
Congrats on going veg!

Do lots of research. Get vegetarian books from the library. Show your parents that you can still be completely healthy on a vegetarian diet. My parents were the same way and I just stopped eating meat. When you go to the grocery store, ask your mom if you can try some veggie burgers or something. The brand Morning Star is really good.

I, and everyone that I have asked said they thought becoming a vegetarian was easy.
For me I just stopped eating meat one day and never really thought about it again. I've been veggie for about 3 years.
I don't think you should ease into it because it will just tempt you to eat more meat... if you want to convince your parents that your choice is reasonable you should have the watch the Documentary Food, Inc. It's this totally appalling movie about the food industry and it has a section on slaughterhouses.
There's also a Rolling Stone article online called "Boss Hog" about slaughterhouses.
If you really want to convince yourself not to eat meat anymore, read it. Seriously before I read that I had no interest in becoming vegetarian.
If you could get your parents to read it maybe they would want to go veggie too...

Hi, I know, families never understand. It has been four years but my grandma and mother are keeping us(me and my sister) telling that we're gonna feel weak and will not take enough nutrition. But of course, we do not care about this. It is my life, after all.
And do you like the taste of meat? Is that why you're eating meat? Just visit meat.org,then. I don't think you'll be able to eat any animal product after watching :)
If you're not doing sports, it is not a big deal to replace animal protein with plants. Eat nuts, beans, etc. But do not overeat nuts like pistachios, hazelnuts and cashews since they include a high amount of Omega 6, despite their high protein level. You can eat walnuts more freely because they have Omega 3 and Omega 6 in a balanced way. Lentils, kidney beans, peas and whole rice are good. Just stick to them. And instead of scrambled eggs in breakfast, you can prefer tofu or fortified muesli.
Good luck!

I agree with you.and I commend you for wanting to be vegaterian.actually being a vegeterian is a healthier lifestyle choice anyway.if everyone new all the chemicals and perservatives that are in meat they would be shocked.im a vegaterian myself and I don't have thing for meat anymore I've learned to hate it. Ask your parents to watch this movie called "Food Inc." that movie tells the truth about meat and how harmful it is for us to consme and all the health problems it causes.

Being a vegetarian is more than just not eating meat. Meat is your primary source of protein, and if you cut meat from your diet, you have to replace it with some other form of protein.
The first thing you need to do is go on some veggie websites and find out what you need to replace that protein. I know tofu is often used, so find a good tofu recipe, and offer to make dinner. Maybe you can get your parent to let you cook a couple nights a week and you can make veggie dinners. If you are serious about it, perhaps they will come around and let you go full veggie.
The bottom line is that you are 14, and you aren't buying the groceries. If you just cut meat without replacing the protein,, you can seriously mess up your health.
I'm not a veg, but i know a lot of people who are.

Have you tried easing into it? Try cutting out an animal at a time (sorry, that's a horrible way to phrase it,) then it won't be so much of a shock to your body. Replace meat with substitutes such as Quorn, and hopefully you'll be fine.
Good luck! <3
