Problems with my 1991 ford aerostar!!! HELP!?
we just got a ford aerostar 1991, it was well maintained by the last people that had it and it was overhauled (engine) at about 115,000 miles and it has 158,000 miles on it now, and we just went and took it up on I-5 and when we went to get up to about 50-55 it started shaking and would not accelerate very well, the tranny had a little work on it like a flush or whatever but we don't know what to do or where to start, we were told to rotate the tires and see but we want to see what other people think, oh and the cv is a little rough, when you turn the wheel it kinda pops a little bit and in the morning it kinda likes to stale a little bit, it has once but it only tries after that.... please help, I have no IDEA whats going on....!
yes we did test drive it and it did real good, and no we did not have it inspected by a mechanic yet, but it just started acting up so its to late tonight but we wanted to put it on here and see or get some ideas as to what could be going on first then maybe bring it up to the mechanic when we go see them, but there is a cord that seems to maybe be going to the smog pump or something that was not connected but when we connected it, nothing happened, it was right on top over by the battery...

I seem to be missing something, you just bought this? did you take it for a test drive? at least 30 to 40 minutes? did you have it inspected at a mechanic?

YOU SAID IT SHAKES AND JUST WONT GO FAST AFTER IT HAD TRANSMISSION WORK , SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A DRIVE SHAFT PROBLEM FROM INSTALLATION OR A BAD CV OR "U" JOINT AND IF THATS THE PROBLEM IT WON'T GO FAST AND YOU CAN POSSIBLY DO MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE DRIVE SHAFT, TRANSMISSION, AND YOUR SELF IF YOU DON'T HAVE IT LOOKED AT REAL SOON. I HAD ONE BLOW OUT ON MY AEROSTAR AND IT BROKE THE DRIVESHAFT AND 15 POUND REAR END PINION SHAFT OFF CLEAN AND WENT THROUGH A CARS WINDSHIELD THAT WAS BEHIND ME AND JUST MISSED HITTING THE DRIVERS HEAD. HE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED ! GET IT CHECKED OUT NOW ! GOOD LUCK ! MICHAEL...
