Can anyone explain how to use the minecraft servers to me?
I have no idea how to use minecraft multiplayer and I need someone to help explain it to me, i have tryed getting into multiplayer worlds by useing the link on the website and sometimes they work but im never able to build **** cuz it always says stuff like you must be a citizen and stuff like that. So if you have to use the website then why cant you use the multiplayer world on the downloaded game by just typing in the server? also I want to start my own server and I need to know how to do that. I am running windows seven 64 bit laptop. If you can answer any one of these questions I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm not sure how you start your own server but there is a reason why you can't build in some game rooms. The game tells you that you need to be some kind of higher rank to build there, right? Well in certain zones you need to have been promoted by the staff of that server. Sometimes you have to "Build something awesome" and post it on a website to get promoted. There are usually guest zones where you can do this. Also the game sometimes tells you to type things like /rules where you can find out how to get promoted.
