I've recently been told that Ford makes a "Hemi" engine. True? False? I can't find any info when I search.?

Yes its true. Its just not called a Hemi because that name is trademarked.

Hemi is short for hemisphere. Tons of engines made by companies all over the world have hemispherical combustion chambers.

Ford made a small block hemi engine in the early 1970s in an attempt to get better MPG but they could not get the engine to meet emissions standards for all states. Ford does not currently build a hemi engine as does Chrysler but so much technology has been applied to head and valve design in the past 10 years that the term "hemi-head" has gotten a bit blurred with all the variations available.

Just about every modern auto manufacture uses a hemispherical head desgn these days, Chrysler just pattened the name Hemi. its not rocket sience, just a marketing ploy, GM uses the name vortex, no big deal. Ford dident bother giving it a name.
