i searched the net and got pics of the AWS dogs that are pretty different...

American White Shepherds have a white, stiff, long, or long-haired coat. The dogs with long-haired coats have no undercoat.
You are looking for the Long-coat type and this depends on the coat type the parents have.
If you look at the dam or sire when you visit the breeder you can see their coat length.
However officially, they are not divided into smoothcoat/longcoat like many other dog breeds.
